GOVERNORS and staff of Lamphey Primary School are delighted that their school has been identified as being excellent in a recent inspection report by Estyn.

Head teacher Simon Thomas said: “I am thrilled with this outstanding report which celebrates the incredibly hard working team we have at the school. All those involved with the school have contributed to its success and achievements and the report reflects this.

“I cannot thank the staff, governors, parents and pupils enough for their hard work and commitment since my appointment as head teacher in 2011. I was particularly delighted that the report identified that.

“The quality of teaching across the school is excellent with all staff fostering very positive relationships with pupils.”

The report also identified that: “…the school is a welcoming and caring community. It provides an imaginative range of exciting learning experiences that motivate pupils to achieve well and has excellent leadership”.

Due to the strengths identified in the report the school has been asked to share its excellent practice by writing case studies for both the Welsh Assembly and Estyn on learning in the outdoors, the teaching of literacy and the high quality provision seen in the Foundation Phase.
