WHITESANDS beach and the Pembrokeshire coast have been shortlisted in the BBC Countryfile magazine awards for 2014/15.
There are 12 categories, ranging from Rural Pub of the Year to Reader Photo of the Year, all of which celebrate the very best of the UK countryside.
Whitesands is nominated in the Beach of the Year category, alongside Sennen in Cornwall, Eoropie on the Isle of Lewis, Scarborough inNorth Yorkshire and Portrush in Northern Ireland
The nomination for Whitesands reads: “Overlooked by the craggy hill Carn Llidi, this beach has plenty of rock pools to explore and great coastal walks, while its fantastic panoramas, white sands, green seas and beautiful sunsets steal the show.”
Pembrokeshire Coast has been shortlisted in the National Park of the Year category, but it faces stiff competition from the likes of Snowdonia, the Lake and Peak Districts, the Yorkshire Dales and South Downs.
The Pembrokeshire Coast is Britain’s only coastal national park and its path runs the length of the county, affording breathtaking views.
Countryfile Magazine is now asking the public to vote for the winner in each category. The results will be announced in the April issue of the magazine. Visit www.countryfile.com to have you say.
