Castlemartin

THE death occurred peacefully of Mrs Beryl Margaret Adams of Lambton Court, Castlemartin on March 9 at Withybush Hospital with her family beside her.

Beryl was born on November 14 1932 at the family home ‘The Poplars’ Cosheston to parents Fred and Olive Stephens.

Beryl's job on leaving school was the ladies dress shop ‘Percy Rees’ at Main Street, Pembroke where she made many lifelong friends.

Beryl married Bill Adams on Boxing Day 1955, a farmer from Penlan, Chapel Farm Castlemartin who sadly passed away after a short illness in March 1968 aged just 38 years.

Beryl spent many years working at Merrion Camp, Castlemartin and until her retirement in 1997 at the Quarter Master Stores.

After retirement Beryl enjoyed reading, attending the local WI and also the monthly luncheon club at the village hall Castlemartin where she would enjoy the company of friends and neighbours.

Beryl’s memory was very sharp and she enjoyed to reminisce about growing up in Cosheston and years gone by.

Beryl’s family bought her greatest joy, she was wonderful loving mother to her two daughters Dawn and Sarah, sister to Brian, grandmother to Rhys, Matthew, Zoe and Lloyd and great-grandmother to twin girls Amelie and Sienna.

Beryl had a very kind, thoughtful nature and would always greet you with her wonderful cheerful smile and the many messages of sympathy to the family show what a popular lady she was and she will be so sadly missed.

The funeral service took place on Tuesday March 20 at St Marys Church, Warren followed by interment at Castlemartin Church yard.

The bearers were Rhys Griffiths, Matthew Griffiths, Lloyd Griffiths (grandsons) and Rhys Howells (granddaughters partner).

The principle mourners and family left to mourn were Dawn and Alan Griffiths (daughter and son-in-law); Sarah and Gareth Griffiths (daughter and son-in-law); Brian Stephens and Amanda Wilkinson (brother and partner); Rhys Griffiths and Lloyd Griffiths (grandsons); Matthew Griffiths (grandsons); Helen Stenson (grandsons partner); Zoe Griffiths (granddaughter); Rhys Howells (granddaughters partner); Pam and Paul Jones (cousin and husband); Joan Thomas (cousins) and other family members too numerous to mention.

Donations in lieu of flowers in memory of Beryl are for Ward 11 Withybush Hospital and may be sent to John Roberts and Son, Funeral Directors, 51 Bush Street, Pembroke Dock who carried out the funeral arrangements.

Mr R M Richards

Haverfordwest

MR Roy Morgan Richards of Crowhill, Haverfordwest, passed away peacefully at home on March 7 He was aged 85.

Roy was born at The Noltons Farm, Treffgarne, in 1932 and went to school in Spittal.

Being one of ten siblings, he is survived by one brother, Gwilym, who lives in Australia.

After growing up and working on the family farm, Roy went to work for J. E. Lawrence driving and collecting milk churns. He then went to work at Kraft Milk Factory where he remained until his retirement in 1997.

During his Autumn years, Roy took up golf and enjoyed walking with the Ramblers.

His greatest pleasure was as an active member of Haverfordwest Bowling Club.

Roy also loved to potter in his garden. Always remembered for a welcoming smile and a chat, he enjoyed the simple pleasures in life.

He leaves to mourn his wife of 56 years, Mary and three children Nigel, Siân and Paul. The wider family of children’s spouses/partners, grandchildren and his great granddaughter will miss him greatly. Also left to mourn are a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, too numerous to mention.

Roy was laid to rest at Puncheston Cemetery on March 27.

A graveside service was officiated by Rev. Geoffrey Eynon.

The bearers were Trevor Harries, Nick Turner, Mike Richards and Mike Codd.

The funeral arrangements were carried out by Roy Folland & Son, of Haverfordwest.

Mrs M E Hughes

Kilgetty

MRS M E Hughes formerly of Mayfield Acres, Kilgetty passed away at Holyland Lodge Care Home, Pembroke on March 12.

She was 96.

Originally from Dinas Rhondda and during the war years Mary worked at various munitions factories in the Rhondda and Cheltenham.

Later in life she ran the village shop in Llanreath for 16 years.

Her main interests were her family, taking holidays with her late husband Bill and also her church.

Bill predeceased her in 2003.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Gwynne and Maggie, David and Heather (sons and daughters-in-law); Jonathan and Sharon (grandson and wife); Darren and Dale (grandsons); David (step grandson); Ellie (great granddaughter) and Ash and Jamie (step grandsons).

The service was held at St Marys Church, Begelly followed by cremation at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth and it was officiated by Rev Caroline Mansell.

The bearers were Jonathan and Dale Hughes, David Kilvington and Philip Hughes.

Mr M J Waite

Pembroke Dock

MR Mark Jason Waite of Wellington Street, Pembroke Dock passed away at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest on Thursday February 15.

He was 43.

Originally from Pembroke Dock and after leaving school, Mark began working for a family run business travelling to different parts of the country with their funfair rides and stalls.

He then worked at Cambrian Windows in Pembroke Dock, after this business closed Mark was employed on building sites, for a small number of employers.

Mark’s main passion was his reptiles, in particular his snakes, of which he kept many in vivariums in his flat, at one time as many as 18.

Mark also loved fishing, travelling, and loved to watch the Welsh rugby and he was a keen follower of Swansea City FC.

His family was very dear to him and he was loved deeply by them all.

The family left to mourn and principal mourners are Paul and Janet Rees (step-dad and mum); Adrian and Donna (brother and sister-in-law); Allison (sister); Lauren, Nicole, Rhys, Callum, Angharad, Niamh, Jack, Sian,and Cai (nieces and nephews); Frayah (great niece); Raymond and Edna (uncle and aunt); Jimmy and Pauline (uncle and aunt); Terry and Geli (uncle and aunt); Rosemary, John, Robert, Joseph and David (cousins).

The funeral service was held on Wednesday March 7 at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth and it was officiated by Mr Mike Ashbridge.

The bearers were Adrian Waite, Jack Rees, David Scarborough, Paul James, Jon McKnight and Ian Smith.
