RENEWABLE energy will be the hot topic up for discussion at the next Pembrokeshire NFU Cymru county meeting, being held tonight.
Renewable energy expert Dr Jonathan Scurlock will update NFU Cymru members on the challenges and opportunities to the agricultural industry from climate change and will outline some of the opportunities that exist for farmers to become producers of renewable energy, in addition to their traditional role as food producers.
A senior adviser with the NFU since 2007, Dr. Scurlock's background is in university and government research, covering energy and climate change policy, plant physiology, all kinds of biomass fuels, bio-based products and other renewable energy technologies. He has worked with regional and local government in North East England, was previously a scientist with the US Department of Energy in Tennessee, and is presently a Visiting Research Fellow at the UK's Open University.
Pembrokeshire NFU Cymru County Chairman, Mansel Raymond said, “This meeting is open to all NFU Cymru members and I do hope we will get a good turnout. Please also encourage your friends and neighbours to come along.”
The meeting is being held at Wolfscastle Country Hotel, Wolfscastle, tonight (Thursday, July 11th), at 7.30pm.
