Pembrokeshire YFC discovered some new tough talkers when members took on the challenge of debating for the first time.

Members aged 21 and under were given the task of debating for this year’s intermediate public speaking competition, with the youngsters proving themselves to be a match for speakers of any age.

The team from Eglwyswrw YFC came out on top, winning the overall trophy ahead of Llysyfran in second and Clynderwen and Llawhaden in joint third.

Mari Davies added to Eglwyswrw’s trophy haul, winning best supporting speaker.

The other honours were shared, with Jessica Robinson, of Clynderwen YFC, taking home the best speaker cup, Llysyfran YFC’s Katie Davies winning best chairman and Anwen James, of Llawhaden YFC named most promising speaker.

The competition rounded off Pembrokeshire YFC’s public speaking season and saw Llysyfran YFC emerge winners of the Brownslate trophy for highest placed club overall in all four sections, notching up one win, two seconds and a third.

Eglwyswrw were placed second, with Llawhaden third.
