Barrens saw another fast run for all sorts, with dairy types peaking at 144 pence and averaged 110 pence and beef cattle topping at 151.0 pence and levelled at 118.0 pence. Weaned calves and store cattle met another brisk trade for all categories.

J. J. Morris reports: A new record price in the cull ewe section, when a Suffolk ewe sold for £142. With 358 cull ewes forward, they sold to an overall average of £63.50. Store hoggets also produced a blistering trade. More than 100 ewes and lambs entered. The quality was very mixed, and a fast trade was evident.

BJP reports: Store Cattle (178): A much improved entry with quality stores on offer which sold to a top price of £890 for 24-month-old Limousin steers sold by Mr Thomas, Trewylym, Hayscastle.

Cows and calves: A three-year-old Limosin cow with calf at foot sold for £1,175 with another to £940.

Cull cows (16): A better entry with all tested cows forward, the best selling for £880 which was a 785kilo Holstein from Rowlands and Lewis, Solva.

Other Friesian cows to 820, 815, 800, average per head £740; max per kilo 120 pence; average per kilo 110 pence.
