Members of Pembrokeshire YFC proved it’s good to talk when the county topped the table at the Welsh public speaking finals.

After good results in all four competitions, Pembrokeshire emerged joint winners of the overall public speaking, sharing the title with Carmarthenshire.

Pembrokeshire’s intermediate brainstrust team of Katie Davies, Llysyfran YFC; Rachael Hughes, South Pembs YFC; Tom Jones, Martletwy YFC; and Andrew Meredith, Eglwyswrw YFC; triumphed in their section, with the other teams all placed fourth.

The intermediate team will now go on to the NFYFC national finals.

In the Wales quiz final, Pembrokeshire narrowly missed out on the trophy, finishing only half a mark behind the winners.

In the Welsh language public speaking finals Pembrokeshire were once again in close contention for the overall title, eventually coming in third just behind neighbouring counties Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion.

The junior reading and junior speaking teams were placed second in their sections, with the intermediate and senior teams placed third.
