IT WAS all change at the AGM of North Pembrokeshire Farmers Club on November 13th.

The new president is first generation farmer Martin Sykes, of Cwmwyntell, Letterston.

Mr Sykes is a former NFU county chairman, national council delegate and chairman of the union’s national commercial services and transport committee. He was a founder member and former chairman of the North Pembrokeshire Grassland Society and a driving force in FWAG Cymru.

The president-elect is Enid George of Brynhyfryd, Wolfscastle. Mrs George established the Brynhyfryd Holstein Friesian herd in the 1950s with her late husband Colin, and they set out on their showing success at Fishguard Show in 1957.

The family’s success culminated in winning the supreme dairy champion in 2000 at the Royal Show with ‘Brynhyfryd Juror Hestor’, but they have been unable to show since then because of bovine TB. Mrs George is also a former president of the South Wales Holstein Club.

The new chairman is Carwyn Evans, of Fishguard, and the new vice-chairman is Eurig Evans, of Cronllwyn, Llanychaer. During the AGMJanet Cornock was re-elected as secretary and Mr I. John as treasurer.

It was all change in the horticulture section with Kathryn Perkins being elected horticulture secretary on the retirement of Rosemarie Johns, who was presented with a gift for her 20 years’ service as secretary.

The date of the 2013 Fishguard Show was confirmed as Friday, August 2nd.
