Years of fieldwork has paid off for some of Pembrokeshire YFC’s most hardworking members.

The crowning glory at the recent Field Day went to new county queen Ruth Morgan, of Fishguard YFC, along with her four attendants, fellow Fishguard member Sara Morris, Mair Rees, of Hermon YFC, Brawdy YFC’s Lydia Salmon, and Sarah Edwards, of Llawhaden YFC.

Sarah had double cause for celebration when she was named young farmer of the year, with Mari Davies, of Eglwyswrw YFC, named junior member of the year.

Things got even better for Eglwyswrw when they emerged as the overall winners of the Field Day, which was held at Ffynnonbrodyr Farm, Clynderwen, after winning the junior safety and nature trail competitions and Tomos Rees being named junior stockjudge of the year.

The senior stockman of the year title went to Llysyfran YFC’s Caroline Lewis.

Clynderwen YFC won the fencing and ATV challenge competitions to earn themselves joint second place overall with Keyston YFC, Llysyfran continued their domination of the efficiency with safety competition, the tractor handling went to Brawdy, and the 4x4 and livestock box challenge was won by Tiers Cross.

Llawhaden YFC won a new competition to design a sign publicising the county rally, which will be held on Saturday, May 23rd at the County Showground, Withybush.
