Pembroke (99 for 2) beat Johnston (96 all out)

PEMBROKE rounded off their season with an emphatic victory over Johnston but were left to rue the fact that they had been pipped at the post for promotion by Cresselly Seconds maximum points victory over Burton.

After being asked to bat first, Johnston were soon in trouble against Rob Weston (5 for 45), Jonathan Rogers (3 for 25) and Jack Harries (1 for 17) as wickets fell regularly. Steve Mills (16), Lee Summons (13), Gary James (23) and Paul Hood (15) all got started but then got out so that Johnston could only muster 96 all out.

Pembroke started well via Weston (25) and Barry Evans (13) before both fell to the pace of Hood in a good 12-over spell which gave him figures of 2 for 37. Phil Hay continued his good recent form with 36 not out and Paul White supported with 18 not out so that Pembroke strolled home in an early finish only for their agonising wait to reveal that they had agonisingly missed out by a whisker for the second promotion spot.
