Division 1:
Neyland 5
Pennar Robins 2

THE Nomads sprung back into form as they ended a run of four straight league defeats with win over Pennar Robins at the Athletic Club on Saturday.

The home side got off to the perfect start when Geraint Rees was taken down in the area, and Sean Hannon made no mistake from the resultant penalty.

Neyland doubled the lead 20 minutes in when Patrick Bellerby headed home from a corner, and then 10 minutes before the break Jonathan Harris got on the end of Mike Chandler’s low cross to score at the back post.

But the home side lost Scott Jones to an eye injury just after the break - and Pennar, who went into the game having taken 16 points from their previous 18, then mounted a serious fightback.

Phil John rapped in a 20 yard shot that beat home keeper Patrick Bellerby at his near post, and then on the hour mark, Jason Donohue brought real hope to Chris Lloyd’s men when he scored following a goalmouth scramble.

But 15 minutes from time, Geraint Rees calmed Neyland nerves with a goal after being teed up by fellow youngster Max Bowman-Davies.

And then with time running out, it was Bellerby who sealed a welcome win for his side with the goal of the game - hammering a 20 yard shot past Pennar keeper Stuart James and into the top corner.

The three points take The Nomads back into sixth ahead of the Christmas break, although the four immediate teams below them all have games in hand, whilst Pennar drop to 10th, but are still a comfortable 12 points clear of the bottom two.
