Division 1:
Herbrandston 5
West Dragons 4

SCOTT Reid bagged four goals to help Herbrandston to their second win of the season at the expense of West Dragons.

This was the only top flight game to survive the severe weather prior to Saturday, and both sides served up a nine-goal thriller.

Jordan Thomas opened the scoring in the 15th minute for the visitors, flicking in a header at the near post.

But after missing an earlier chance to level matters, Reid tapped in a rebound after his first effort was blocked - and then put his side 2-1 up by smashing in a 20 yard shot after Herbie had pressed The Dragons into a mistake at the back.

Ten minutes into the second half the same player completed his hat trick, finishing well after Jason Clarke had won possession and surged forward, before cutting the ball back to the striker.

The same combination made it 4-1 on 65 minutes, with Reid heading home from Clarke's whipped cross.

But almost straight from kick off, debutant Liam Sheehan pulled one back for The Dragons - before Herbie seemingly made the points safe five minutes from time when Mark Jones scored with a towering header from a Marc Gelona corner.

However, The Dragons then staged a late fightback, with Sheehan striking from close range before completing his hat trick in style with a superb acrobatic effort.

It came too late though - as Oliver West's Herbie side held out for a crucial win, and one that closes the gap between them and third bottom Lamphey to eight points.
