West Wales Cup Quarter Finals (2pm):

Carew v Giants Grave

It's now a massive four days for Carew that will define their season.

Lose this and their Senior Cup semi final with Hakin Tuesday, and suddenly they have little left to play for. Win both, or even one - and they will be on the brink of a tremendous campaign.

A lot will depend on how they react to last week's 4-0 home loss to The Vikings, and you hope the result will motivate rather than deflate them.

What concerns me about The Rooks, is that through no fault of their own they have played just twice since December 9th, one of them a 2-0 win in the last round at Bonymaen Colts.

And they face a big task to get back to their best against Giants Grave who are unbeaten in the Neath Premier with eight wins and a draw from nine games.

They have already faced Pembrokeshire opposition in the cup, brushing off Pennar 6-0 in the second round, and come into this on the back of a 4-1 league win at Pontardawe.

I hope I'm wrong, but despite being away from home, I feel the form of Giants Grave, plus the extra recent football they've played, tips the balance in their favour.

Score prediction: Carew 1-2 Giants Grave

Merlins Bridge v Bwlch Rangers

If ever a game was close to call, it's this one as two teams unbeaten in their own domestic leagues go head to head.

Bwlch have won 10 and drawn three of 13 league games as they lie second in Carmarthenshire's top tier - and impressively hammered regular contenders Morriston Olympic 6-0 earlier in this competition.

They will arrive confident, and Bridge were only able to labour to a 1-0 win at Angle last weekend after their Senior Cup last four loss to Clarbie Road.

But they will be prepared for this one - and have proven numerous times already this season their ability to dig deep and get through FAW Trophy and West Wales Cup ties.

Adam Hawkins and Nathan Greene, both missing from the Angle game, are two players they need back tomorrow, and I expect Chris Ormond will also come back into the 11 if available.

I expect Nathan Thomas will have his side fired up, knowing they lie two games from the club's first ever final appearance. And while extra time would not surprise me, my hunch is the home side will prevail.

Just....

Score prediction: Merlins Bridge 1-0 Bwlch Rangers

Ystradgynlais v Goodwick United

Goodwick beat Ystradgynlais on their way to winning the competition in 2015/16, and while their hosts have notched some big league wins this season, it should be noted they play in the second tier of the Neath Leagues.

Having said that, you don't reach this stage without being a good side, and their 8-0 win over league leaders Ynysygerwn last Saturday was a huge statement of intent.

The Phoenix Boys have stuttered slightly of late, losing to Monkton before being pushed all the way at Herbrandston last week, and can ill-afford to be off the boil for this away trip.

I expect Lee Hudgell to start after being on the bench last week, and his skill and crossing ability could be key for the visitors if they are to break with pace - especially with Jordan Griffiths now back up front.

One thing Wayne O'Sullivan's team know how to do is negotiate tricky cup ties. If at their best, I think they will negotiate this one too.

Score prediction: Ystradgynlais 1-2 Godowick United

Manderwood Pembrokeshire Football League Division One (2.30pm):

Angle v West Dragons

Suddenly, a game of far greater significance than if it had taken place a few weeks ago.

Angle lie seven points, and the Dragons six, clear of the relegation zone - but both would have noted Herbie's recent improvement.

The hosts themselves were resolute last week, and were inches from taking a point off Merlins Bridge when Chris Richards hit the post with a late free kick.

It has been well documented meanwhile, that The Dragons have lost more players in February, and they were only able to take a bare 11 to Narberth last week and went down 4-0.

They were however, able to field the likes of Jordan Thomas, Gethin Roberts, and Scott Crawford, and their top flight experience is now going to be vital if Lee Palmer's side are to stay out of a relegation dogfight.

Both sides need a win, but it wouldn't surprise me if they cancelled each other out at Windmill Lane.

Score prediction: Angle 1-1 West Dragons

Hakin United v Narberth

I didn’t expect The Vikings go to Carew and win as emphatically as they did last Saturday, especially with players missing.

It was a reminder of how dangerous they are when they click going forward, and it goes without saying Narberth keeper Jason Jones and his back four will need to be at their best at The Obs – a venue where they lost 5-1 in the second round of the Senior Cup.

But The Bluebirds themselves go in on the back of three league wins on the bounce, scoring 14 times against Herbrandston, Pennar, and West Dragons respectively.

And if they do find a way to contain The Vikings, then they will cause problems themselves with the likes of Jordan Williams and Tony Evans currently in goal scoring form.

Hakin boss Kristan Bennett will have to think hard about his side with keeper Adrian Devonald, Daniel Armstrong, Craig Nicholson and Ben Fawcett in contention after missing last week, and The Vikings also have a Senior Cup semi final to negotiate on Tuesday.

Narberth have had a great season but are yet to register a point against one of the expected title contenders, and I fancy their wait may extend beyond tomorrow.

Score prediction: Hakin United 4-2 Narberth

Milford United v Neyland

You felt last week was pivotal for The Robins if they were going to have any hope of staying up this season - and the 4-0 loss at Pennar was a damaging one.

Despite conceding 10 goals in two games, the displays of young keeper Jack Nicholas have been a positive – but when a side is struggling defensively and at the same time, not scoring, it’s a difficult rut to get out of.

Neyland meanwhile, cemented their recent improvement with a 3-1 win over Lamphey last Saturday, as Henry Durrant reminded us what a threat is left foot can be from long range with a stunning opener.

The Nomads lie sixth and will fancy their chances of finishing higher than that come May, and with The Robins low on confidence, I'd expect an away win here.

Score prediction: Milford United 1-3 Neyland

Monkton Swifts v Clarbeston Road

These two meet just seven days after a nine goal thriller in Clarbie - a game Monkton won courtesy of James Russell's late winner.

That made it 10 points from a possible 12 for The Swfits, a run that includes away wins at Narberth and Goodwick, and their third place in the table is no fluke.

It was Patrick Mcdonagh who starred at the Knock Playing Fields with a hat trick against a Clarbie side who were perhaps suffering the after effects of a draining Senior Cup semi final over Merlins Bridge three days before.

The visitors will want key midfielder Tom Reubens back after he missed last Saturday's clash - and I fancy we could see another close contest at Monkton Lane with goals at both ends.

Having edged it last week, I suspect the Swifts will do the same here.

Score prediction: Monkton Swifts 3-2 Clarbeston Road

Pennar Robins v Herbrandston

A hat trick of headers from Carl Rees handed Pennar a much needed win over Milford last time out - but they are not out of the woods yet.

Especially given if they lose to Herbie tomorrow, it would see their advantage over their relegation rivals to three points.

Herbie have found cohesion and grit when needed most - beating Lamphey before giving leaders Goodwick a real battle in their 1-0 defeat on Saturday.

It was Mark Jones who led an improved defensive display, and Oliver West will want the same from one of his more experienced players tomorrow against the likes of Sam Southcott and Phil John up front for Pennar.

The hosts themselves will have to be wary of Ali Ouzman's threat, and I do envisage a cagey affair given what's at stake.

Whether either side would settle for a draw is debatable, but I suspect it may end that way.

Score prediction: Pennar Robins 1-1 Herbrandston
