Pembroke County Cricket Club Division One: Haverfordwest (192-1) beat St Ishmaels (189-8)

We are only seven weeks into the league season - and yet Simon Holliday is already past 500 runs after his third Saturday century of the summer eased Haverfordwest to a nine wicket win against Tish.

The opener struck 15 fours and a six in his 111 not out as The Town chased down the away side's total of 189-8, moving Danny Potter's men back to 10 points off leaders Neyland who had a shock home loss to Lawrenny.

After being put into bat, Tish started badly as Jonny White bowled opener Jack Nicholas (3), and then fell to 36-3 as White had Danny Howells (7) caught by Adam James, before the latter trapped Peter Bradshaw LBW for 19.

But through skipper Phil Cockburn and Andrew Williams Tish rallied, with the pair putting on 84 before the captain also went LBW to all-rounder Holliday, after cracking eight boundaries in his 40.

Williams soon followed for 45 (six fours), caught by Ben Field of Lee Summons, to leave Tish 124-5, and it took cameos from Harry Nicholas (14) and Andrew Palmer (28) to take them to what was at least a challenging total.

For The Town, it was Holliday who also grabbed the limelight with the ball as he finished with 3-43.

It was he and Field who then put on 24 for The Town's first wicket before the latter was LBW to Williams for 11, but that was as good as it got for the visitors.

Holliday took just 121 balls to notch his underfeated ton, allowing No 3 Lee Summons to play without pressure as he made 60 not out, with seven boundaries and a maximum.

The pair got The Town over the line in the 38th over to reignite their title hopes after last week's loss to Whitland, while Tish stay eighth and one place above the drop zone - although are actually level on points with ninth placed Kilgetty.
