THERE’S always ‘one more’ where David Round is concerned, and sure enough, the Milford man will return to mixed martial arts at the Fight Festival show in Manchester next week.

On Saturday, July 7, the 31-year-old will take on Andy 'the lion's paw' Devent in a light heavyweight contest at Trafford Park in Stretford, in what is essentially a decider between the pair.

The two are good friends out of the ring, but in the cage are locked at 1-1, with Round winning the first bout between the two at OMMAC 13 back in 2012 via a triangle choke, his only submission win to date.

But Devent, who will essentially be the home fighter this time around, got revenge in December at Tanko Fighting Championships 2 with a submission victory of his own via a rear naked choke.

“Yes it’s the decider,” said Round.

“We can’t finish our careers not knowing who was better. It’s a huge fight for the fans of UK MMA with two big names with big records known to everyone.

“This fight will go down in history and I’m sure in the future both of us will be inducted into the UK MMA hall of fame.”

After that loss to Devent, Round turned his attentions to kick-boxing bouts and last season took a year out from fighting to play rugby for Milford Haven, but insists he is only returning to MMA for this bout as Devent, 40, has also signalled his intent to retire.

“I feel I’m in good shape and have been doing a lot of sharp sprint work as well as longer running.

“There has also been more boxing and heavy bag work for this one.”

The fight will serve as the co-main event and will be streamed live via the internet.

Round, of the Fight Agency, thanked his sponsors JP Scaffolding, LPA Impact, Support 81, Granicol Ltd, Bad Boy Supplements, L Greggain & Co Ltd, Steve Evans at Studio 9 Custom Tattoo, Training Mask, Stuart Lloyd Carpentry, Sweet Treat, Battle Body Clothing, Ian Smith Builders, Pain Game and Cerberus Pembrokeshire Ltd for their support.
