Alan Brown Cup final: Lamphey v Pembroke Dock at Whitland on Sunday, July 1st, 1pm start (two innings of 20 overs per team).

A local derby, scorching weather forecast, and a final at one of the top grounds in the county.

This Sunday's Alan Brown final clash between Lamphey and Pembroke Dock has the makings of cracker.

The competition is of course a great chance for clubs in our county, who do not have the strength to match the big boys in the top two leagues, to experience a final and claim a trophy.

So both The Stags and The Dock will be going all out on Sunday, especially given they are both in the Division Three promotion race and may not get a chance to win it again next season.

The two met in the league back on June 16th and it was The Dock, who currently top the table, who prevailed by six wickets. It is perhaps fair then to label them slight favourites here - but a final clash is always a different kettle of fish when compared to a league game. Expect both to be at full strength and as the old cliche goes, it will be a case of 'on the day'.

John Williams and Richard Scriven will be the men in the middle umpiring.

Telegraph Sport has spoken to both camps ahead of the final but first, a reminder how the two teams got there.

Pembroke Dock (109-2) beat Laugharne (108 all out) by 8 wickets

Pembroke Dock: Peter Kingdom 40 not out, Jake Griffiths 10,
Nick Daley 30 not out, John Camani 4-38, Jamie White 3-27, Connor Carroll 2-34.

The captains' view:

Hywel Gibbs (Lamphey): "Ever since we’ve been eligible for the competition the umpires have always said what a great day out it is so we’re really looking forward to it.

“We know our opponents well both on and off the field and we’re two evenly matched teams although clearly they have the upper hand going in as leaders of Division Three and having beaten us quite comfortably the other week.

“That said, it’s over two innings so it’s a different game from what we’re used so I’m confident we can give them a run for their money.”

Nick Daley (Pembroke Dock): "We are really looking forward to Sunday's final with Lamphey - they have some good guys playing for them.

"W hope for a great game and a win - and also that the weather stays good. Either way we will enjoy a few pints with them afterwards. Up the Dock!"

Player profiles:

We spoke to both clubs who provided us with a light hearted insight into their squads for Sunday, with both having to whittle selection down to 12 on Sunday.

Lamphey squad:

Hywel Gibbs: Captain – decent bowler, decent bat, useless fielder

Andrew Skeels: Old warhorse who refuses to retire, last season’s top wicket taker despite having a dodgy toe.

Grant Cole: Good all-round cricketer capable of hitting the ball miles when he connects just a shame he spoils it all by supporting Cardiff City.

Nick Shelmerdine: Took us over the line in Llanrhian playing a great innings as wickets fell around him, classy middle order batsman.

Nic Johnson: Back in Lamphey colours after work commitments prevented him from doing so. A great character and excellent batsman.

Lewis Haines: Last season’s top run scorer he’s continued where he left off having a good season with the bat in Lamphey colours.

Peter McGilloway: This year’s Mr Consistent has played some beautiful innings’ as well as taking important wickets. Revealed this year he once worked as a butcher hence his nickname being ‘Meat’.

James Skeels: A pocket rocket. Hits the ball miles, bowls with good pace and has a ferocious arm, the complete opposite of his dad then! A brilliant mimic.

Scott Brunton: Back from pretending to be on Love Island and will hopefully be showing the same form he did before he went off on holiday. A top all-rounder.

Tom Powell: Work commitments prevent him from playing as much as he should but his impish brilliance with the bat and speed between the wickets could be a force for us in the final.

Gianluca Trimarco: Been playing well this season, his well chiselled arms helping to propel the ball a fair distance, another who plays little due to work commitments.

Ben Hathaway: Returned to the Stags after a season or two with the Dock and has slotted back in as though he’s never been away.

David Blackwell: Injury will prevent him from playing but he’s probably been our best player this season, a big loss. One of the UK’s top Snowboarders too (in the veteran category!)

Haydn Cole: still capable of taking miracle catches, just ask Lawrenny’s Hugh Griffiths, despite being a reluctant player these days.

Dan Williams: Never played cricket before this season but quickly learnt what it means to be a Stag. A top man.

Julian White: Known as ‘Bread’ due to his father being the village’s baker, slots in when needed and always follows us around. A great man and our greatest supporter.

Phill Kidney: Off on holiday for the final but helped us over the line in the high scoring g ame against Crymych, one cool customer.

Helen Hodges: We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. If any of us were as good at cricket as she is at scoring we’d all be playing for England. Produces scorebooks worthy of displaying in the Tate gallery. Little wonder she doesn’t allow us to deface them when she’s unavailable!

Pembroke Dock squad:

Nick Daley: Was skipper last time The Dock won this trophy in 2009. All rounder and stalwart of the club.

Scott Griffiths: Returned to the club this year, a brilliant wicket keeper and left handed batsman who also bowls a bit!

Peter Kingdom: AKA Mr Bean. Another stalwart who has been at the top of his game last few seasons. Great batsman and another capable wicket keeper.

Luke Murray: Another important performer who strikes the ball very hard. #upthedock

Craig Butland: Has really improved these past few years as both a fielder and a batsman.

John Camani: Mr Fitness. Opening bowler who loves a game of 'spoons'.

Jake Griffiths: Recently signed back from Lamphey. A very hard hitting, aggressive batsman who also claims he can bowl!

Billy Wood: A good signing from Pembroke. Very talented bowler, decent with the bat and a good fielder.

Rob Hearn: Another to sign from Pembroke. All rounder who recently picked up seven wickets, including a hat trick game, against Lamphey in a league game.

Jamie White: Took a vital wicket in the semi final win. Top bowler and fielder who can hit late runs.

Connor Carroll: A talented youngster. Good bowler and fielder and one to watch in the coming seasons.

Daniel Heeps: Another talented player. Bats and bowls and plenty more to come from him.

Jonny Hay: A top club man with a great attitude, always giving 100%. Decent with bat and ball and a great fielder.

Keith Butland (waterboy): Possibly one of the most important men for Sunday, given the weather forecast!

Nicola Murray (Scorer): Like Helen, a brilliant scorer. Also a member of the team social (drinking) squad.
