Pembroke County Cricket Club Division 1: St Ishmaels (196 all out) lost to Whitland (310-7) by 114 runs

The week before it was their second XI, but Saturday was the turn of Whitland firsts to pile on over 300 runs.

Except this time it set up a victory for the club as after Mathew ‘Titch’ Davies had hit 101, they dismissed hosts Tish for 196.

Iestyn Scourfield’s side were asked to bat and did just that with Wayne Howells and Jack Bowen putting on 97 for the first wicket as the latter backed up the previous week's knock of 198 by hammering 58 off 51 balls, including eight fours and two sixes.

He was caught behind by Jack Nicholas off Lenny Rees, who then removed Howells (32) on his way to 2-57 - and when Scourfield (8) also went to Andrew Williams - Whitland were 117-3.

But then came a stand of 90 between Steffan James and Davies, with James hitting 40 (five fours) before being bowled by Andrew Pawlett in his last game before returning to Leeds for pre-season rugby training.

Davies accelerated however, and unperturbed by losing three more partners hit 14 fours and a maximum to end unbeaten on 101 in 67 balls - with his final boundary coming off the last ball of the innings to seal his first ton for the club.

Spinner Pawlett the pick of the Tish bowlers with 3-62.

Tish lost Jack Nicholas (6) early on their reply but then fought hard - as the in-form pair of Peter Bradshaw and Daniel Howells took matters to 77-2 before Bowen had Bradshaw caught by Adam Davies.

Howells and skipper Phil Cockburn then added another 95 however, but when Howells was caught by Scourfield off Davies, after 11 fours in his 73, Tish promptly collapsed.

In the next over Scourfield dismissed Brennan Devonald and Harry Nicholas for ducks, and then Davies soon trapped Cockburn LBW for 46 (six fours and a six), meaning Tish had lost four wickets for an many runs.

They never recovered and soon fell to 197 all out in the 42nd over, with Ben Harvey securing the 30 point win by bowling Michael Cockburn (3).
