IT was all about raising awareness at St Clears on Saturday as the club took on a ‘Pickersgill family select XI’ at the Community Fields.

The Saints, who used a mixture of first and second XI players, won 6-4 after the Pickersgill side had led 4-1 on what proved a brilliant day of fund raising for the Brain Tumour charity.

Back in 2016, Diane Pickersgill sadly died of a brain tumour, and her family came up with the idea of a football game to raise awareness and publicity for the charity who they support.

The family XI was picked by Diane’s husband Howard, andson Alex was amongst those playing against the newly promoted Division One team.

Afterwards, all players and supporters were invited back to the Corvus Inn, St Clears, for a charity raffle and auction - and a number of local companies also helped out by providing sponsorship for the day.

The exact amount raised is yet to be confirmed, but organisers said they wanted to thank everyone involved for their help and support.

It was the second successive year the event has taken place.
