Two Pembrokeshire schools narrowly missed out on a chance to be crowned Welsh winners of the Regional Girls Kwik Cricket Finals at the Swalec Stadium, Cardiff.

Cleddau Reach and Roch both reached the semi-final stages only to lose out against Marshfield and Rhiwbina respectively.

Of the 18 schools competing at the event, three were from Pembrokeshire, the other school being Tenby’s Hafan y Môr.

In the first three fixtures all Pembrokeshire Schools won their games while in the fourth, Cleddau Reach beat West Park, Roch beat Nottage while Hafan y Mor agonisingly lost out to Ysgol Griffiths Jones on run count.

In the Semi Finals Cleddau Reach lost to Marshfield 242-270 and Roch narrowly lost to Rhiwbiena in a game that went down to the last ball 247-255 and with a bit more luck and with some decisions going their way in the final over, they could easily have won.

Nevertheless they all had a great day acquitted themselves, their schools and Pembrokeshire well.

Special mention to Alice Morgan from Roch who had an outstanding game on her Birthday!

The Teams where well coached by Cleddau Reach by head teacher Nick  Groves, Jon Thomas  and Nathan Evans from  Hafan Y Mor and Simon Holliday Roch.
