Senior Cup Round 1: Neyland 2-4 Solva

There was a cup upset at The Athletic ground as two goals from Leo Dinmore helped Division Two side Solva knock out Neyland.

A frantic first half finished 2-2 but it was the Greens who took control after the break to set up a trip to Pendine in the next round.

Both sides had early chances but it was Neyland who took the lead when Ben Fairbairn intercepted a pass from Solva defender Luke Phillips - and raced through on goal before burying a low shot past Aaron Foster.

But Solva promptly levelled when Italian midfielder Dinmore skipped past two tackles before cutting onto his left foot and firing past Peter Blain from the edge of the area.

Mike Chandler put The Nomads back ahead with a great finish after some neat build up play, but again the visitors responded when Joe Elliott’s deflected cross fell into the path of Josh Bland – who made no mistake from close range.

And in the second half Solva took command as Dinmore blasted home from Gonzalo Rocha’s corner – and it was the latter who then made it 4-2 as he pounced on a rebound after Bland’s effort had been saved by Blain.

Solva had further chances but it then took a good late save by keeper Foster to prevent a nervy finish - as the visitors deservedly went through.
