Manderwood Pembrokeshire League fixtures for Saturday, September 29th (2.30pm):

Division 1 predictions:

Clarbeston Road 3-1 Milford United

Clarbie are beginning to pick up results in the league although failed to push Hakin in the Senior Cup last week.

They still seem to be waiting on key men to return but new signing Sean Seymour-Davies is finding his feet with three goals in two games, and he could be key again against a Milford side yet to win a point.

But although The Robins lost in the cup at Saunderfoot, Adrian Hutchings would have pleased with goals for strikers Lewys Tee and Jason Hicks - with a lack of goal threat having cost them dear in the league so far.

The visitors will make it tough for Clarbie, but I still see a home win.

Goodwick United 5-0 Herbrandston

It's not happening for Herbrandston at the moment - and this isn't the kind of fixture you want on the back of 1 point in five games.

They would also have been frustrated by their Senior Cup game with Llangwm/Haverfordwest CC being called off last week - it would have been a chance to get a win, and some goals, under their belts.

Goodwick meanwhile were fortunate to win at Pennar a fortnight ago but they do seem to be hitting their stride, and and Jordan Griffiths' cup hat trick at Fishguard last week took him to 11 league and cup goals already this season.

Herbie can't let him run wild on Saturday or like when they played there at the end of last season, they could be in for a long 90 minutes at Phoenix Park.

Hakin United 6-2 Lamphey

Lamphey are another side with an unenviable trip tomorrow.

But they at least go to The Obs on the back of a 5-0 Senior Cup win over Letterston, their first victory of the campaign, and Billy Davies scored three times as a reminder of his danger when he has the service.

But the way they were dismantled by Monkton in their last league game (2-11) has me worried for them here. Hakin are still not firing on all cylinders but still put seven past Port Tennant Colts in the FAW Trophy and scored five against Clarbie in the Cup last week.

Nicky Woodrow is also seemingly back fit and scored twice in the latter win, and he and Justin Harding should give The Stags real problems here.

Merlins Bridge 3-1 Pennar Robins

Matthew D'Ivry won't have learnt too much from his side beating Cosheston 10-0 in the cup last week, but it at least gave a chance for Adam Hawkins to get off the mark for the season as he hit five.

It will be much tougher tomorrow against a Pennar team who have gone from three straight league wins to back to back defeats, although as mentioned they more than matched Goodwick last time out before Matty Delaney's injury time winner.

I think Chris Lloyd's team are capable of a result here but Bridge have firepower aplenty at the moment with Jordan Thomas another to impress last week, and the Robins must find a way to counter it.

Monkton Swifts 4-2 St Clears

I wrote St Clears off pre-game against Carew, so it is with real reluctance I tip them to lose again here.

Tristan Hancock was the hero of that 4-2 win over The Rooks and whilst they started terribly against Division Two team Kilgetty in the Senior Cup, there is clearly nothing wrong with their self belief as they came from 3-0 down to win.

But Monkton are just goal crazy at the moment. They'd scored 21 goals in two league games before going to Tish in the Senior Cup on Saturday, and bagged 11 more as James Russell scored four times.

But while I can see them picking up three points, I don't think they'll hit double figures again this Satuday - although if they do I'm sure Ryan Griffiths will let me know about it....

Neyland 2-2 Narberth

This is one I'm struggling to call.

Neyland's poor league start was compounded by a 4-2 Senior Cup loss to Solva last week.

Good goals from Ben Fairbairn and Mike Chandler were a reminder that they do possess quality but a number of their promising youngsters have now left for University, and despite a win over Milford they are yet to find any real form this season.

Likewise, Narberth have just a point from five games but pounced on the chance to get going against Newport Tigers in the Senior Cup, winning 19-2 as Jake Webster, George Lander, and Jordan Williams all ran riot.

But that was against a Division 5 side and in the league, they have not scored since the opening night of the season.

I think they will score at The Athletic Club, but I can't pick an outright winner.

Saundersfoot Sports 2-4 Carew

That defeat to St Clears has to serve as a wake up call for Carew - as recent Division 1 history has showed you don't have to drop too many points to lose touch with the leaders.

But they will have a tough test here, with Saundersfoot having settled well back into life in the top flight. They've lost just once thus far and progressed in the Senior Cup last week, with Richard Cope impressing.

They did however, concede three times in the second half against Milford and can ill afford a spell like that against The Rooks given the threat carried by Scott Ferney and co up front.

I'll tip Carew to bounce back, although admittedly not with a great deal of conviction.
