SHANE Long has recovered from the ankle injury that forced him to miss a Republic of Ireland training session.

The striker was declared fit to play against Denmark tomorrow night in the first of their UEFA Nations League double-header.

Ireland are bottom of their group but were given a boost by the expected absence of Danish star Christian Eriksen.

Long will then be looking to exact revenge against Wales on next Tuesday (16 October) after his side were hammered 4-1 in the reverse fixture.

Republic of Ireland manager, Martin O'Neill, is hoping the Saints front man will be able to find his finishing touch tomorrow night.

O'Neill said: "We don't have anyone who has proved themselves to be a prolific scorer, so it is a difficult one.

"Shane is not that - he hasn't scored at club level now for quite some considerable time and of course that plays with your mind.

"But you have to be very, very strong and think the next chance that comes along, 'This is the one that I'm going to take'."
