Helen Platel has described her first Ironman World Championships as the 'most amazing sporting experience' after completing the course in Kona, Hawaii, in 12:14:21 yesterday.
Platel, from Solva, has featured heavily in both local and national endurance events for many years, and qualified for Hawaii after a strong showing in Ironman Wales in 2017.
She raced in the female 45-49 category, and her time was enough to give her 59th place.
"It's been the most amazing sporting experience ever," she told Telegraph Sport this morning.
"I loved every second of it."
We'll be speaking to Helen further on her return from Hawaii, but for now, we congratulate her on an epic achievement.
