West Wales Cup Round 2: Clarbeston Road 2-4 Gorseinon

Phil Russell and Rob Jones scored a brace apiece to help Gorseinon to a hard fought West Wales Cup victory at a wet and windy Clarbeston Road.

It means no more cup action for Clarbie this campaign, having already exited the Senior Cup.

Russell scored to give the visitors a slender one-goal cushion at half time, and the Swansea League based striker duly added a second after half time to put his side in control.

But Clarbie responded with Jason Griffiths on target to get his side back in the tie.

The end to end action continued as Rob Jones drilled in the visitors’ third - only for Sean Seymour Davies to score Clarbie’s second of the afternoon.

The visitors finally ensured victory when Jones fired past home keeper Chris Lo for his side’s fourth.

Clarbeston Road boss Matt Ellis admitted he was disappointed with the result, but there was further bad news as centre back Tom Glover broke his ankle in the first half and is likely to miss the rest of the season.

Telegraph Sport wishes Tom a full and speedy recovery.
