Senior Cup Round One: Carew 2-1 Johnston

ScottFerney scored twice to help Carew to a hard fought cup win against Division Two side Johnston.

This tie was switched to Carew after twice being called off at Glebelands, and the reward for The Rooks now is an away trip to Narberth in the second round.

It was third time lucky for the sides despite the heavy rain the day beforehand, and after no goals in the first half, Ferney broke the deadlock with a terrific left foot strike from close range.

But The Tigers equalised straight after when Tom Grover fouled Luke Hayward in the area, and although the latter then had his spot kick saved by Tom Davies, Ryan Doyle was on hand to score the rebound.

It stayed that way until 15 minutes to go when the Rooks grabbed the winner. Defender Spencer Williams’ long ball found Scott Richards and the defender cleverly squared it to Ferney who struck another low left foot finish past Jim Payne.

Senior Cup Round Two: Lamphey 1-11 Hakin United

The Vikings led 5-1 at the break, with Evan Stanfield scoring the Stags’ only goal of the tie.

The Hakin goals were shared by Nicky Woodrow (4), Justin Harding (3), Daniel Armstrong (2) and Adam John (2).

It meant an easy passage into the quarter finals for Kristan Bennett’s men, and they remain among the favourites to win the silverware next April.
