Milford United chase their first points against Clarbie

Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division 1 (2pm):

Carew 3-2 Narberth

Carew would have rued an opportunity lost last week. They were 1-1 with Merlins Bridge when the hosts went down to 10 men, but still went down 3-1. 

But Rob Scourfield's side are still very much in the mix and will know a swift response is vital here. Iwan Izzard should return after missing last week and they will start favourites having already won 4-2 in Narberth on October 20th.

Although the Bluebirds have picked up since then. Jordan Williams and Chris Brown both hit hat tricks as they hammered Clarbie last week (a game I very wrongly predicted they would lose) and suddenly them seem like the Narberth of last season - with potential to trouble sides and score goals.

I still think Carew will come through this, but only after a tough test.

Hakin United 4-1 Saundersfoot Sports

The Vikings showed flashes of their forward flair against Pennar last week, although will feel should have killed the game off earlier before eventually winning 3-1.

But winning is exactly what Kristan Bennett's men have to keep doing now, having dropped six points and already facing their now annual fixture backlog.

They continue to create chances aplenty and the midfield duo of Ryan Wilson and Craig Nicholson are crucial in making them tick. The Sports have to find a way of closing down Hakin's space in midfield to get a result here.

And the visitors in good form themselves, with Nick Cope standing out with two goals in a 4-0 win at Hundleton in the Senior Cup last weekend. That result followed a hard fought win over Pennar in the league.

But this will be difficult, and I expect The Vikings to have too much in attack.

Milford United 2-3 Clarbeston Road

Clarbie won this reverse fixture 7-2 back in September, but I think it will be much closer this time around.

In fact it was by that scoreline that Matthew Ellis' side lost to Narberth on Saturday, and the absence of key defenders appeared critical.

Milford are yet to earn a point and Adrian Hutchings will see this as a game where his side must pick up something. Lamphey withdrawing from the league means in all likelihood, only one side will go down now so there is renewed hope for The Robins.

But there last two league games have yielded heavy defeats and there was the 12-2 loss to Hakin in the West Wales Cup. Bouncing back from those will be tough.

I do think the home side will put everything into this, but thus far effort has not transferred into results.

Neyland 1-5 Goodwick United

Goodwick still top the table but the heat is on - with the four sides below them all having games in hand.

But despite not playing last week, their recent form is good and they had few problems putting away Narberth 6-0 a fortnight ago.

The returns of Rob Morgans, Luke Raymond, and James Gwilt, and now presumably Chris O'Sullivan after he played for the 2nds last week, means their squad looks stronger than when the season kicked off.

The Nomads were blown away by half time at Monkton last Saturday, and although they did show chracter with late goals from the the ever improving Olly Hughes and Mike Chandler, they can ill afford to be off the pace early on again here.

They were missing defenders and a regular keeper last week mind, and they'll need them back to compete here.

Pennar Robins 1-3 Merlins Bridge

The momentum is building with the Bridge. Last week represented another big test for them, and one they passed as a Joe Leahy hat trick saw them beat Carew 3-1.

It was more impressive give they lost Adam Hawkins to a red card, and both he and Leahy (on holiday) will be big losses on Saturday.

But Matthew D'Ivry has depth in that department and at the other end, the recent form of keeper Gary Thomas has helped them grind out come crucial results.

Pennar though, are better than their recent form suggests. In Ben Adams up front they have a striker who can run at defenders and score goals, and the signing of Dan Kitts will strengthen their midfield.

Stuart James is also among the better keepers on the league, but in their loss to Hakin last week, all three goals were avoidable from a defensive point of view. Chris Lloyd will know his side can't afford to give The Wizards the same luxury.

Pennar will test Bridge, but it's impossible to ignore the form book here.

St Clears 2-5 Monkton Swifts

Monkton's first 60 minutes against Neyland summed up their season - ruthless going forward with four different goalscorers.

A goal difference of +29 tells its own story and it is now eight league games unbeaten for Joe Lewis' side.

These sides met on September 29th in a game The Swifts won 2-0, but St Clears come into this after a comfortable Senior Cup win in Camrose. That looked a banana skin tie but they were dominant, although the scorer of two of their three goals, Nico Setaro, will be back with Whitland rugby on Saturday.

St Clears have already shocked people once this season with that win over Carew, but if Monkton repeat their form of recent weeks, then their unbeaten run should continue.
