Last night was a great one for the Bowen family at the inaugural Welsh Racing Awards in Chepstow - and there was also success for Rebecca Curtis.

Peter Bowen, who recently launched his own Racing Club, won the Gain Equine Welsh Trainer of the Year award.

And his sons Sean and James were also honoured.

Sean picked up the Welsh Jockey of the Year award, while younger brother James was deemed the Rising Star of the Year.

It meant a unique treble for the Little Newcastle based family, and there was success also for trainer Curtis, based at Fforest Farm Stables at Dinas Cross.

On the same day Drovers Lane won the Pertemps Education Network Chase for her at Market Rasen, another of her horses, Joe Farrell, was crowned Welsh Chaser of the Year.

She said the award had 'topped off a good day'.

The Bowen family meanwhile, and Peter's influential wife Karen was also in attendance, said it had been a 'great night'.
