West Wales Cup Round 3: Herbrandston 3-1 Waunarlwydd

Herbrandston's excellent cup run continued with a super victory at home against Waunarlwydd.

Scott Reid was the hero for Herbie, the striker claiming a stunning hat-trick as he finished clinically to give his manager Sean Thomas plenty to crow about at the final whistle.

“We played well,” said Thomas.

“Scott’s finishing was the difference, but overall it was a good team display.”

The hosts took the lead in the 10th minute, Andre Algieri's run and pass setting up Reid to score with his right foot which his manager confirmed: “He normally uses just for standing.”

Two minutes before the break and the visitors levelled matters - Jason Peterson curling a shot from the edge of the box into the top corner for a quality finish.

The hosts regained the lead in the 65th minute when Reid headed home Andre Algieri’s corner, and the striker got his treble ten minutes from the end.

The hosts were awarded a penalty when Jake Barrett was fouled in the box, and Reid claimed the 'perfect' hat trick with a left foot strike from 12 yards.

Herbie boss Thomas was understandably delighted with the result and pointed out that Jake Houston was outstanding at centre back, playing alongside Jonty Bennett in the heart of defence.
