Division Three West A: Laugharne 21-27 Milford Haven
It's now 10 league wins from 10 for Milford Haven as their game with Laugharne went down to the wire before The Mariners claimed a crucial bonus point win.
The away side outscored their hosts by five tries to three and it was an eventful debut for new prop Zac France-Miller, who marked his first start with two tries but was also yellow carded along with centre Dan Birch.
It was Laugharne who made the better start though with a try from winger Gareth Spiers before Milford winger James Trueman, who had an off day with the boot after landing 17 from 17 kicks the week before, was short with a long range penalty.
But it was the visitors who took a lead going into half time with No 8 Dewi Williams going over before France-Miller got his first with a typically powerful finish. Trueman added a conversion to make it 12-5.
That became 17-5 just after half time with a super 40 metre finish from away flanker Ryan Mansell - but back came Laugharne with a try from centre Tom Jameson and two penalties from full back Steff Davies.
The pendulum continued to swing as Milford full back Steve Martin finished clinically to make it 22-16 and they went close to sealing the game via a driving lineout - but referee Colin Phillips turned down claims the home pack had delierately collapsed the maul and awarded a Laugharne scrum.
Then The Cocklemen set up a thrilling finish with a try from Gary Jones but crucially, the conversion went astray and Milford led 22-21 heading into the dying moments.
But at the death, France-Miller went over for his second try and although Trueman was again wide with the conversion, it was a bonus point win for The Mariners meaning they now lead Aberaeron by 15 points ahead of a crucial game between the two at The Obs on Saturday.
Laugharne meanwhile, will take a losing bonus point into another tough game at Haverfordwest on Saturday but with three defeats from nine games, their promotion chances now look slim.
