Senior Cup quarter final: Solva 1-7 Carew

A hat-trick by striker Jordan Richards secured what was eventually a comfortable passage into the last four of the Senior Cup for Carew at Solva.

The Division Two outfit went in with nothing to lose, and looked up for it in the early stages.

Indeed, it was the Green who took the lead after 30 minutes through Josh Bland as he got on the end of a Ryan Thomas cross to score.

But the Division One outfit equalised three minutes later as Iwan Izzard’s free kick crept in off Solva keeper Aled Davies.

And the visitors took a slender 1-2 lead at half time through a deflected strike from Richards.

But in the final half hour The Rooks dominated territory and possession and alongside two more for Richards, there were further goals for Scott Ferney, Shaun Whitfield and Lloyd Hughes.

It means a second successive semi final for the Rooks, who will want to make amends after losing at the same stage to Hakin last season.
