Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division 1: Milford United 2-0 St Clears

Liam Parr bagged a brace to secure a big victory for Milford United against St Clears.

The Robins are sitting second from bottom, and although this was only their second win of the season, it puts Adrian Hutchings' team six points clear of Herbrandston and with only one going down they suddenly look a good bet to stay up.

The hosts opened the scoring on the 20 minute mark, as the lively Parr put Saints’ keeper Iestyn Scourfield under pressure and the striker nicked possession and placed the ball into the empty net.

And after the break the home side got the crucial second.

Morgan Picton, Neil and Ashley Mathias all impressed in midfield and it was the latter who put a ball in over the top for Parr and he kept his composure to slot home.

Then 16-year-old Tom Blackwell also came on for The Robins for his first team debut and went close to a third goal, and it was a good day all round for Hutchings.

"We started really well - controlling the game with some good movement and composure on the ball and went on from there," he said.

"The lads are full of confidence at the moment and the team spirit is great."
