The summer season is still some time away, but Haverfordwest Tennis Club have gone right through the winter with great success.

The Men’s team won Division 7 of the Cymru Kitchens Tennis Winter league, gaining promotion for second year in a row by winning six of their eight matches.

They played teams across South Wales including large clubs of the likes of Stow Park, Rhiwbina, Abergavenny, Glamorgan Tennis cClub and Allt Yr Yn from Newport.

The team was strengthened for the winter campaign with the arrival of new club coach Tom Hole, who re-located to the area from Wolverhampton and made an immediate impact.

Louis Warren once again a committed player-captain who organised matches and played a number of fixtures, and racked up a number of miles travelling to all of the away fixtures. But the squad managed a mixture of youth and experience and the likes of Tom, Joe and Adam Colwill, Nathan Jones, Louis Warren and Gareth Robinson all played matches, with important cameos from Richard Davies, Richard Price, Yan morris, Gordon Hardy gained valuable points for the team.

The Women’s Second Team also had a successful Cymru Kitchens campaign as they gained promotion from Division 8.

They were captained by Alyson Horton and won their last pivotal match of season against Penarth Windsor to gain promotion.
