Haverfordwest County footballers Jack Wilson and Alaric Jones featured in the Welsh Schools’ dramatic late victory against England Schools in the Under 18s Centenary Shield clash held at Arbour Park, home of Slough Town FC.

Wilson had the ball in the net from a corner but was deemed offside just before half time and that would have given them the lead slightly against the run of play.

At the start of the second half Jones was introduced after ten weeks out through injury and was then handed the Captain’s armband.

Jones swept up everything England threw at them and on one occasion he pinched the ball from an English forward and outpaced the midfield and fired a vicious shot which whistled over the crossbar.

The winning goal was scored in the 90th minute, a penetrating run through the middle by Wilson saw a scramble inside the box and the ball fell kindly for substitute Charlie Caton to gleefully tap home the winner.

On Thursday night (March 14) Welsh Schools U18s entertain Ireland Schools U18s which will be held at Aberystwyth FC.
