Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division 1: Carew 7-3 Herbrandston

It was a real tale of two halves at Carew last night as four goals from Jack Christopher secured the home side a win - but only after they'd trailed 3-1 half time thanks to a Scott Reid hat trick for Herbie.

Not since January 12th a Herbie player other than Reid scored a league goal, and his importance to the side was highlighted again early on last night when he picked up Scott Findlay's pass and although Carew keeper Tom Davies blocked his initial shot - the striker smashed the rebound into the roof of the net.

He then pounced on Haydn Diamond's long ball over the top to shoot into the corner from 12 yards and make it 0-2 - before Christopher pulled one back for The Rooks with a header.

But before the break Reid secured his treble, again finishing well after being teed up by Findlay, and for relegated Herbie a first win of the season seemed on the cards.

But second half was one way traffic as Carew came back.

Firstly Christopher again nodded in from a corner and then Herbie defender Jamie Evans diverted a cross into his own net to make it 3-3.

Christopher then sealed his hat trick, again from a corner, before brother Sam made it 5-3 with a simple finish from close range.

The win was effectively secured when the former Welsh League player grabbed his fourth goal with a neat finish from 12 yards, and James Hinchcliffe completed the scoring when he latched into a free kick into the area and placed a finish under Wolfgang Ackermann.

Both teams meet again at Herbie tomorrow night.
