Manderwood Pembrokeshire League Division 1: Hakin United 1-0 Goodwick United

Justin Harding’s early header earned Hakin United a slender victory over arch rivals Goodwick United at the Obs.

This was a game that the Phoenix Lads had to win to keep their title dreams alive, but Kristan Bennett’s Vikings were not prepared to give them a helping hand and came away with the points.

The only goal of a competitive game was scored in the 5th minute, as Camron Thomas’ long ball down the wing found Nicky Woodrow, and the striker’s pinpoint cross was met by co-striker Harding who headed past James Gwilt at the far post.

Stand in Vikings’ keeper Leigh Broome pulled off a number of good saves to deny the visitors and Gwilt also pulled off some decent saves for Goodwick.

The Vikings held out though and continue their busy end of season schedule at St Clears tonight (Monday).

Goodwick meanwhile, can still have a big say in the destination of the title when they go to leaders Monkton Swifts on Saturday, April 27th at Monkton Lane.
