There were celebrations galore 'Down the Quay' on Wednesday as Tobefair notched an eighth race win at the Safran Landing Systems Handicap Hurdle at Cheltenham.

The nine-year-old gelding, trained by Paul and Debbie Hamer and owned by the syndicate that’s based at the Cresselly Arms pub, finished strongly to see off second placed Broughtons Admiral and the Welsh Paddies.

Only last month, the horse and jockey Tom Bellamy were second in the Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle at the same venue in the Cheltenham Festival, following a thrilling finish with 4-1 favourite Sire Du Berlais.

And the pairing have pushed on since then, sealing victory to the delight of many syndicate members who had again travelled to Cheltenham to support.

“He was owed this after The Festival,” said Bellamy.

“It has been fantastic to get him back running so well but heartbreaking to get so close in the Pertemps Final.

“So it's great to get a winner here.”

The race was televised by Racing TV, and needless to say there were many satisfied punters from Pembrokeshire who had backed the horse pre-race.
