Division 1: Burton (160 for 7) lost to Carew (161 for 2) by 8 wickets

Carew continued their blistering start to life back in Division 1 with a very comfortable win over Burton at Oatfield Park - as they asked the home side to bat first and then chased down a solid home score with room to spare.

Burton made a good start as they stood at 80 for 1 after Toby Hayman and Matthew Webb (24) opened well before the latter departed – but when Hayman was adjudged lbw for a strong 45 the home side were never able to build on the platform.

In the end they laboured to 160-7 as Tom Davies (2-25), Rhys Davies (1-51), Shaun Whitfield and Ceri Brace (both 2-37) shared the wickets for the visitors.

Martin James (19), Jonathan Venables (12), Morgan Scale (13) and especially Luke Hayman, with an unbeaten 28, were the other main Burton run scorers as they batted out their 45 overs.

Tom Davies then continued his early season batting form as he opened the innings and contributed a powerful unbeaten 90 which contained 12 fours and two sixes - as Nick Scourfield supported with 35 and Rhys Davies chipped in with 28 not out, whilst for Burton the pick of their bowlers were Johnny Scale (1-43) and Luke Hayman (1-21).

It means three wins from three for Carew, ahead of a big game with second placed Neyland this Saturday.
