Luke Harding Memorial Cup semi final: Goodwick United 2nds 4-1 Fishguard Sports 2nds

After a tight first 45 minutes, Goodwick United 2nds produced a strong second half display to beat rivals Fishguard 2nds and book their place in the first ever Luke Harding Memorial Cup final.

Harding, whose bravery when battling lung cancer touched the hearts of many, represented both clubs and players and supporters fell silent for a minute before kick off to honour his memory.

When the action did start the first 45 minutes were affected by heavy downpours, and chances were few and far between with Goodwick striker Jack Griffiths going closest when his stinging 20 yard drive forced Jac Pepper into a good save.

But right on half time the Phoenix Boys took the lead when Darren Devonald was tripped in the area by James Wade - and Sion O'Sullivan buried the penalty into the right hand bottom corner.

Jonny Horgan made it 2-0 after half time as conditions eased before the Sports fought back through a goal from Simon Jones.

Goodwick finished the stronger though and Horgan grabbed his second while Danny Williams also came off the bench to score.

The second semi final, between Harding's other two former Pembrokeshire clubs, is between Solva 2nds and Letterston at Phoenix Park on Wednesday, 6.15pm kick off.
