On a glorious Saturday the Milford Haven Golf Club Captain David Evans held his annual Captain's Day event.

The tournament was attended by 130 entries (men, ladies, guests, juniors and mini juniors) with the course set up to perfection and the sun shining with a light breeze. Everyone was given a gift and invited for lunch by the captain.

In the junior section the first place went to Joel Mills with 44 points, second place was Jemma Nand-Lal with 41 points and in third was Liam Williams with 37 points.

In the ladies' section Maeve McGee took second place (35 points) and Karen Lewis was first with an excellent 43 points. Barbara Phillips was nearest the pin on the 6th hole and in the ladies' guest section Christine Phillips (Derllys Court) took second place and Jan Goodridge was first.

The men’s section saw 70 entries and 15 guests.

In the category 1 competition (0-14 handicap) Peter Fowler came third with 41 points, second was Jon-Paul Davies with 42 points and in first place with an excellent 43 points was Richard Hull.

In the category 2 event (15-28 handicap) Ken Davies was placed third with 42 points (and received a two shot reduction in his handicap). David Pearce placed second with 43 points and way out in first place was Mike Anderson with a tremendous 49 points (also receiving a four shot reduction in handicap).

The longest drive was taken by Liam Eva (Tenby Golf Club) on the 18th and nearest the pin on the 4th was Mick Seal (also Tenby). The competition scratch score was 38 stableford points and there were 14 two’s recorded.

The men’s guest section was won by Chris Palmer (Derllys Court) and runner up was Mick Seal (Tenby).

Additionally, the Captain's Day silver spoon (originally presented to the club in 1907) was presented to Hywel Griffiths (Preston).
