Division 1: Haverfordwest (101 all out) lost to Lawrenny (103-7) by 3 wickets

It was an eventful day at The Racecourse - but at the end of it all it was Lawrenny who kept their slim title hopes alive with a tense win over Haverfordwest.

Chasing 102 to win, Joe Kidney's side edged home by three wickets with Ryan Morton cracking a huge six to win in. And although they lie 45 points off leaders Neyland - they host Sean Hannon's side next Saturday in a game they simply to have win.

It was Kidney who opted to field on Sayurday and it paid off as Rob Williams bowled Danny Potter second ball of the game.

Jake Merry and Ben Field did steady things with a 30 stand but Williams struck again when Field (20) nicked to James Phillips, and Ryan Morton had Merry (13) caught and bowled.

Lee Summons (18), Dai Davies (20) and Simon Holliday (17), who came in at No 7, all got starts after that but it was Kurtis Marsh who kept the visitors in control with a superb spell of 4-13 in 11.3 overs, including five maidens.

He helped shoot Haverfordwest out for just 101 in the 39th over, with Williams finishing 2-17, Morton 1-23, and Harry Thomas 2-20.

But Ashley James struck early in the reply by bowling Marsh (0) and after the score reached 45-1, things got nervy when James Phillips (5) was bowled by Dai Davies and Harry Thomas was run out by Field for 29 - having looked in good touch with six boundaries.

Wickets continued to fall but captain Kidney hit three fours and two sixes in a quickfire 25. However, when he holed out to James off Lee Summons Lawrenny were 89-5 and still work to do.

James Skeels (11) followed and when Summons struck again by bowling James Buckle (2), at 96-7 things were suddenly on a knife-egde.

No 9 Morton held his nerve though to smash a big six off Tucker that landed on the clubhouse roof, much to the relief of Kidney and co.

They will however, have to face Neyland next Saturday without Kurtis Marsh who will serve a one game suspension for dissent - but have at least kept the race alive with three weeks of the season to go.
