Luke Harding Memorial Cup 3rd place play off: Fishguard Sports 2nds 5-4 Letterston
The third match of the inaugural Luke Harding Cup tournament had its fair share of goals as Fishguard Sport 2nds secured third place by beating Letterston.
The Sports trailed 3-2 at half time and then 4-3 in the second half, but finished strongly to edge an entertaining affair.
They took the lead when Liam Wilkes headed home from a Liam Robb corner, but it was the goalscorer's hand ball that then gave Bryan Mathias a chance to level from the penalty spot - and he buried his low effort into the bottom corner.
The Sports should have re-taken the lead when Ryan Davies fired off target from Gary Delaney's through ball but soon they were back in front anyway when youngster Stuart Murrell cut into the area and placed a low shot home.
Back came Letterston as Jack Richards set up Dan Bruce to make it 2-2, and then second before half time it was Bruce's corner that fell kindly to Rob Murray - and he scored from close range.
Fishguard wasted an early chance to level in the second half when Paul Thomas had a penalty saved by Andy Sharp, but they did get back to 3-3 when Simon Jones scored.
The momentum swung again when Sam Kurtz came off the bench to put Letterston back in front but then Gareth 'Gaffer' Thomas saw his Fishguard side finish strongly - with Jones again and then Ieuan Llewellyn both scoring to eventually settle a see saw contest.
The tournament will now finish next Wednesday, August 14th, with the final between Goodwick United 2nds and Solva 2nds at Tregroes, Fishguard.
That kicks off at 6.15pm.
