Pembrokeshire cricket's second tour of Bromsgrove this summer, this time with the under 14s, proved another successful trip.

The side produced one win and one defeat, with a third game lost to rain.

Pembrokeshire (80 all out) lost to Wiltshire (81-1)

Playing Wiltshire first on day one, with a damp pitch from the recent rain, the toss was always going to be crucial.

As the umpire had forgotten his coin, a bail toss was won by the Wiltshire captain who duly elected to field first.

The Pembrokeshire batsmen found it tough going with only Cyril (10) and Harry (27) making double figures.

Wiltshire knocked off the low target of 81 only one wicket down, Joe getting the wicket caught by Jacob.

After lunch came a second match, this time a T20. After a solid start and with Dom picking up a few wickets, a stunning 94 not out from Wiltshire's no 4 helped them home to a resounding victory.

The day provided a good lesson for the Pembrokeshire side though and crucially, they didn't let the defeats affect them and after a moral boosting swim session they prepared for Lincolnshire in a 40 over match on day two.

Lincolnshire (115 all out) lost to Pembrokeshire (117-7)

Tour skipper Joe won the toss this time and elected to field.

Opening up, Luc set the tone bowling by Lincolnshire's opening batsmen first ball with one that swung and seamed.

Pembrokeshire's fielding was much improved from the day before and along with tight bowling that created the pressure to help take regular wickets.

Luc (1-15), Morgan (1-23), Lucas (2-15) and Josh (2-11) all chipped in helping to bowl Lincolnshire all out for 115. Good catches from Dom, Cyril and Harry helped matters as Joe returned the best figures by taking 4-26, including the prized wicket of the opposition skipper who had smashed 45 in quick time with some powerful stroke play.

Starting the chase with only five overs left before the lunch interval was never going to be easy and Pembrokeshire lost a wicket in the first over.

In the following overs Cyril (13), Dom (6) and Josh (10) battled hard against excellent spells from Lincolnshire's openers.

Joe continued his good day by taking his time to build his innings and cashing in when he was set, making 36 not out to help seal a three wicket victory.

He was helped by excellent batting from Morgan (23) who punished bad balls and Seth (17 not out) who's power hitting was crucial.

The result was just reward for the excellent application from the Pembrokeshire group - and afterwards the Hop Pole Inn provided the perfect evening of entertainment thanks to its upstairs Pool and Darts room.

Pembrokeshire vs Isle of Man rained off

As the forecast had predicted all week, day three was a washout with our the match against the Isle of Man moving Indoors.

Both teams agreed not to score the match and chose to enjoy themselves and express their skills instead. It was a fun way to end a thoroughly enjoyable tour for coaches and players.

"The boys should be very proud of not only their efforts but how they represented Pembrokeshire and their parents," said Simon Williams.

"They had particular praise also from the staff at our accommodation at Bromsgrove School Sixth Form."
