Division 1: Neyland 8-1 Pennar Robins

Jason Griffiths scored a perfect hat-trick to help Neyland to an emphatic victory over struggling Pennar Robins.

Man of the match Griffiths scored with his right foot, left foot and head to give the new striker his first treble for The Nomads.

The hosts led 4-1 at the break, as Mike Chandler opened the scoring.

Patrick Bellerby added the second for the goal of the game as goalkeeper Patrick Hannon started the move, Will Hughes broke down the left and fed Chandler, he cut in and played in Griffiths who saw his shot blocked and Bellerby followed up and placed an effort in the far right corner from 18 yards.

Griffiths was on target with his second of the game with a sweetly struck left foot shot before Nick Willis pulled one back for The Robins - but Bellerby added his side’s fourth just before the break.

After the break and Wayne Parry was on target with goal number five. Griffiths added the sixth and seventh and Chandler was on target with the eighth.

I was a great win for Neyland, but sadly Geraint Rees broke his tibia during the game and has been put in a cast for at least six weeks. Telegraph Sport wishes the young talented striker a speedy recovery.

Neyland’s Sean Hannon said: “We played really well and Jason (Griffiths) scored the perfect hat-trick.

“Hopefully this result will give the boys a boost in confidence.”

Pennar manager Chris Lloyd said: “No complaint as the result reads, we were beaten by a far better team. There’s a long season ahead and we must improve.”
