West Wales Cup Round 1: Clarbeston Road 5-4 Cwmfelin Press

Clarbeston Road beat Swansea Division Two side Cwmfelin Press in a thrilling game at Knock Field.

The hosts were put under the cosh from the off but still managed to go in front when Richard Bevan prodded home at the far post on 15 minutes.

Then debutant Keegan Summers doubled the lead but the Cwmfelin side soon got themselves back in the game with a well taken finish at the far post. Within five minutes of that, it was all square as Elliot Smith beat the Clarby centre halves to drill his low shot home.

Clarby stand-in keeper Dai Davies then jarred his knee stopping a shot - meaning the keeper curse continued for the home side and Dan Rees donned the gloves for the third consecutive week.

The frantic pace continued and on half time Ben John drilled in a cross that Summers headed in to make it 3-2.

Clarby took further control in the second half when John himself defied a tight angle just outside the corner of the 18 yard box, and unleashed a rocket of a shot into the top left stanchion.

Rees made an outstanding save to keep it at 4-2 and then at the other end, Summers completed a hat trick for his new club.

But two quick goals for the away side made for a nervy last 15 minutes and Cwmfelin lived up to their name and pressed for an equaliser, but to no avail the final whistle signaled great relief for the home side as they progressed to Round 2.
