Division One West: Llangennech 31-12 Pembroke
Pembroke were already struggling with injuries prior to their trip to Llangennech and sustained knocks to a few more to key players here as they battled hard but were always on the back foot after conceding two early converted tries.
Llangennech were 19-5 to the good at half time as The Scarlets had an excellent score from winger Shaun Dalling - but were unable to turn further pressure into more points.
They added a cracking try in the second half, set up by youth outside half Kyren Gray, which allowed Toby Smith to score and Gray added the extra points but they allowed their experienced opponents to claim further scores that put the issue beyond doubt.
Richard Thomas, Tom Davies, Tom Barnes (2) and Jordan Saunders scored tries for the homesters, three of them converted by Tom Neil, as Llangennech climbed to joint top spot in the table to continue their tilt at promotion.
Pembroke meanwhile, find themselves dropping to ninth place with coaches Geraint Lewis and Kyle Davies now targetting a big home game with Yr Hendy this Saturday.
“Both packs were evenly matched and in poor conditions it was tight up front,” Davies told Telegraph Sport.
“We had a lot of ball first half and didn’t turn that into points. Where when they were in our 22 they came away with something and that was the difference.
“But youth player Kyren Gray came on at 10 in second half and made a cracking 70 metre break that we scored from - and then kicked the conversion from the touch line. In only his second first team game he was a major positive.”
After playing Yr Hendy, The Scarlets have a Pembrokeshire derby at Crymych.
