Five Pembrokeshire weightlifters have been signed up to compete for Wales at the Celtic Nations.

Selected to compete for their country against Scotland and Ireland are Mena Williams, Lotty Whalley, Dan Davies, Chloe Hood and James Hart.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Pembrokeshire weightlifters, they are extremely proud to be representing Wales in a historic event spanning back to the mid 1950s,” said SAW Director Simon Roach.

The five lifters will join others from across Wales to create a team of 18 across three age categories - Under 17, 20 and senior, with points from each performance added to the team total. The team with the highest number of points wins the annual tournament.

Also attending the Celtic Nations from Pembrokeshire are Wales' most senior technical officials, Darren Rogers and Stephen Donovan. Jim Horner will also join the squad as a referee along with Justin Head as competition manager and Simon Roach as one of the Welsh coaching staff.

The three Celtic Nations will meet at Bangor University on Saturday, November 30 to decide which team will be crowned as Celtic Champions.
