Division Three West A: Laugharne 46-6 Llangwm

Laugharne now lie just three points off leaders Lampeter, and with two games in hand, after a workmanlike win over Llangwm at Woodford Park.

The Wasps were still in the game after 32 minutes as they trailed by 10-6 – but the home side added another score before the break and took control in inevitably heavy conditions to add a further five tries without response.

The match was originally scheduled for 16th November but Laugharne had a WRU National Bowl match that day so both clubs elected for a pre-Christmas run out instead – and the game was played at a good pace despite the conditions underfoot.

Laugharne start well:

Laugharne took an early lead when scrum half Adam Davies sniped through for an unconverted try but The Wasps quickly responded after good work up front by Gethin Thomas, John O’Boyle, both flankers named James Lewis and Gethin Bateman, the St Davids’ coach playing on permit.

They earned a penalty which No 10 Luke Hayman landed and the same sequence took place again at the end of the first quarter when Adam Davies claimed his second unconverted try and Hayman landed a second penalty after good work from Ian Griffiths.

Williams grabs a vital score:

But Laugharne gradually gained a territorial advantage and it was Mikey Williams who extended the lead with a try and outside half Tom Jameson added the extra points.

Hard as Llangwm tried, however, they found it hard to stem the tide thereafter.

One way traffic:

Centre Tom Davies then rounded off early Laugharne pressure as he opened the second half try scoring.

Winger Will Evans sped through, second row Carl Smith, centre Tom Thomas and replacement winger Antonio Setaro added further tries, two of them converted by Jameson.

Laugharne will now turn their attention to a crucial home game with second placed St Clears on Saturday, while Llangwm hold their traditional Bishop Cup clash with Haverfordwest at Pill Parks on Boxing Day.
