Division 1: Saundersfoot Sports 2-3 Carew

Shaun Whitfield scored a superb brace for Carew who came from behind to win at rock bottom Saundersfoot Sports.

The hosts are still awaiting their first points of the season and at half time they led 2-1 but at the final whistle they had lost by the odd goal in five.

Whitfield struck from close range for an early opener for The Rooks, but on 22 minutes it was 1-1 though following a superbly struck direct free kick from Paul Hodge which flew into the top corner, not giving Tom Davies a chance. The Rooks then lost the influential services of Jack Christopher who pulled up with a troublesome groin strain.

In the 36th minute The Sports added a second goal when another free kick caused mayhem and Euan Laidlaw made no mistake from close range.

Two minutes after the break and Whitfield grabbed his second goal of the game to level matters when Adam Muskett’s headed against the crossbar and Whitfield reacted quickest in the box.

Muskett grabbed a crucial third for The Rooks on the 70-minute mark, as he showed good composure to drill in past Sam Franklin from 10 yards and secure the points.
