Pembrokeshire Football League fixtures for Saturday:

Senior Cup quarter finals (1:45pm):

Carew 4-2 Johnston

In the last round I thought Johnston would go to Clarby and lose comfortably. So they'll be heartened to know I think they'll lose here too.

The Tigers tend to fluctuate. Some weeks they are scraping XI together in Division 2 and on others they are banging goals in and causing upsets. In Scott Crawford, Joey George and Ryan Doyle they do have goal scorers but will also want Scott Murray back fit after a recent lay off.

Carew have now notched three league wins on the bounce and are beginning to show the consistency they were lacking early season. I said before their last round match it was a big game for them after their West Wales Cup exit and a title challenge looking difficult - and the same applies again.

They do have Fraser Findlay in great form and while Johnston will cause problems, I'd expect Carew to have too much.

Fishguard Sports 1-3 Goodwick United

Right, we'll try again.

The league game between these two at Tregroes was called off in October. The re-arranged league game between these two at Tregroes was called off 10 minutes before kick off in December.

Rain has fallen this week but with dry days scheduled Friday and Saturday, we live in hope.

There should be needle - two local rivals in a Cup quarter final and for the first time in a long while, it's an Division 1 affair.

Fishguard are capable of matching the top sides and were bang in the game until late on at Monkton last week - while Goodwick hit double figures against Narberth. And that was with Rhys Dalling held back on the bench as Jake Smith impressed on a rare first team start.

The Sports as always will threaten from Niall Kinsella's set pieces and Steve Lewis has been in great form for them. And make no mistake they would love to win this one.

It will be anything but easy for the visitors but with their recent experience of tricky cup ties, Goodwick certainly start favourites.

Merlins Bridge 4-2 Hundleton

It's Division 1 v Division 2 - but this won't be straight forward for the cup holders.

Bridge have shown real character last two weeks to win against Goodwick and then Clarby, both 3-2, and if Hundleton are at full strength they will be tested again here.

The visitors now have the likes of Billy Davis and Tom Dyson (although he is cup tied for this) in their ranks and go in off the back of a 6-0 win over Pennar 2nds. I imagine promotion and the Second Division Cup are more realistic priorities but they will go to Bridge with nothing lose. And if it's blowing gales again on Saturday, it notoriously not easy for any side to settle at The Racecourse.

The Wizards should have too much overall but will need to be on their guard, especially given their current shortage of defensive cover.

Monkton Swifts 5-0 St Clears

Monkton have responded well to that Hakin loss over Christmas and will fancy themselves to score goals here.

Dylan Davies struck twice on Saturday as they saw off Fishguard Sports 3-1 - a team who went to Monkton Lane on the back of a 10-1 win over St Clears. It goes without saying The Saints will have to shore up to have any chance here.

The prospect of a Senior Cup semi final does tend to help sides raise their game but The Swifts will see this as a big chance to progress and I can't see them being complacent.

I'll go Monkton with room to spare.

Division 1 (2pm):

Narberth 2-3 Neyland

Neyland have been better this season than their points tally suggests but they finally got three more points on Saturday - a Jason Griffiths hat trick helping them hammer Saundersfoot.

On the contrary, Narberth followed up a 7-0 loss to Monkton with a 10-2 defeat at Goodwick. Keeper Adam Frearson will want better protection from his defence this time around.

These two met in late December in a game where the Bluebirds fought back to win 3-2, but respective displays since then edges me towards The Nomads here.

Pennar Robins 2-2 Clarbeston Road

All three outcomes are equally likely here.

Pennar's good run ended on Saturday but they still gave Carew a test before losing 3-1, while Clarby pushed Merlins Bridge all the way before losing 3-2 late on.

Both these sides have shown improvements in recent weeks and Pennar have added Josh Hicks to their ranks, while the injury worries that plagued Clarby at the start of the season seem to have subsided.

It should be a good battle this, and I envisage a tight 90 minutes.

Saundersfoot Sports 0-6 Hakin United

With the top three all in cup action, this is a big chance for Hakin to go second in the table and reduce the gap between them and Monkton to three points.

I can't see them not taking it against a Saundersfoot side who now seem to have a mountain to climb after the weekend. There is now a six point gap between them and survival and when you are yet to win a point, and have a goal difference of minus 48, that is a lot.

The pitch may be heavy from the rain in the week which could help but with their firepower, plus Leon Luby in great form down the right for them, Hakin should have way too much going forward.
