Bluestone National Park Resort has been announced as the new title sponsor for the Pembrokeshire Coast Triathlon, in a deal which will cover three years.

The triathlon is held in the stunning location of Broad Haven, and includes a 1,500m sea swim, a 43km bike ride, and a 10.6km run.

The event, organised by Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club, is one of the oldest in Wales having first taken place in 1994.  After a spell in Fishguard, it returned to its original home in Broad Haven in 2009 and has been held there every year since, going from strength-to-strength.

During the last 10 years the event has hosted the Welsh Triathlon Championships four times, winning Welsh Triathlon Event of the Year twice, and in 2015 scooped the prestigious British Triathlon Event of the Year.  The 2020 event will again host the Welsh Triathlon Championships, and will also host a round of the Welsh Super Series (https://www.welshtriathlon.org/events/welsh-super-series).

As well as attracting a competitive field of athletes, the event also prides itself on being inclusive, and actively promotes entries from relay teams, with one person swimming, one cycling, and one running.  In recent years the number of relay teams has been in excess of 50, bringing a different dimension to the race as well as bags of atmosphere.  Bluestone will be entering at least two relay teams in this year’s triathlon competition.

James McNamara, Head of Leisure at Bluestone and a former Bluestone relay team winner at the event, said: We are always looking to encourage getting active and increasing well-being – we can’t wait to see our Bluestone teams compete in this year’s event.”

Yvonne Buckingham, Head of Sales and Marketing at Bluestone added: "The Pembrokeshire Coast Triathlon is a fantastic event and we are really excited to be supporting as the title sponsor for the next three years."

David Astins, Events Manager for Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club, added: “We are delighted to welcome Bluestone as our title sponsor for the Pembrokeshire Coast Triathlon.  Their support helps us to continue to put on a first class event with a very competitive entry fee.  We are looking forward to working with Bluestone over the next 3 years.”

Places in the event are limited to 300, and with the event filling up fast people are being encouraged to enter soon to avoid disappointment.

Online entries can be made through Pembrokeshire Triathlon Club’s website at: http://www.pembstri.org.uk/events/pembrokeshire-coast-triathlon/
